Share the Love

PDAs are widespread in this culture. Not palm pilots. Public displays of affection, like we used to say in 6th grade.

While it's clearly better to see love and affection shared instead of violence and hate, there's a dark side called being single. Don't get me wrong - singledom is lovely. You have complete freedom, you can flirt with anyone you want, you get to hang out with your friends and family more, you have the dignity of not settling, and you don't have to deal with anyone's crap or bad moods.

But when you're in the midst of all types of people making out in public, all the time, it will start to remind you of your singleness. And when you're trying to have a serious conversation with your friend in the restaurant booth but the couple right behind him are nearly horizontal, it's distracting. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The interesting thing is that dancing at clubs in the U.S. is considered much racier than in Brazil. There are close dances, but grinding to hip-hop is not one of them.
